The former Doi Family Residence comprises of two buildings: the main house and the hermitage. The two buildings stand side by side, surrounded by wells, a small shrine where the house god is enshrined, a garden, and hedges.
This family residence shows, in a tangible way, the custom of this region, according to which the head of the family retires and lives in the hermitage when the eldest son becomes the new head of the family and lives in the main house.
